What is the 30 Hour Famine?
World Vision's 30 Hour Famine is a worldwide movement of students who are serious about serving God and fighting hunger - all on an empty stomach. For 30 hours, participants get a taste of hunger by not eating - something more than a billion people around the world experience every day. And by doing fundraising activities, community service projects, and learning more about the facts of world hunger, students are changed in amazing ways as they help others and save lives.
On Friday, April 16th and Saturday, April 17th, Our Teenagers here at Lee Acres have agreed
to participate in this effort.
Each Teen is responsible for raising $360 dollars.
$360 feeds one child in an impoverished country for an entire year.
We have asked our teens to find 12 sponsors who would donate $1 for every hour they go without food.

Our Teen’s voted and they have decided to send the money that they raise to the children suffering in Haiti.
But our support won’t stop there.
On Friday, April 16, our teenagers will be camping out on the church lawn in cardboard boxes to get an idea of what it’s like to not have adequate housing. We will have a lot of prayer and devotional time get pumped up about serving in our very own community here in Tupelo!
On Saturday, April 17th, we will be distributing food/clothing from a drive we will organize before the famine. We will also be serving at the Salvation Army and participating in some life changing games and challenges.
We would like to conclude the whole event by hosting a Famine Sunday, a couple weeks after our famine, in which we will present what we have learned about poverty to our
family here at Lee Acres.
