Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering. Hebrews 13:3
The primary mission of this ministry is to reach out in love to women who have been incarcerated, and help them to know God’s Word. Through teaching and encouraging, it is the hope that the women become Christians or reconnect with God. A secondary mission is to present the type of life style necessary to make positive choices once released.
Twelve years ago, a ladies jail ministry began with a group of ladies from one of the local Churches of Christ. Today, the weekly Sunday Bible studies still continue. There are now three Churches of Christ supporting the ministry with teams of ladies. Each team consists of two ladies who go to the local adult jail for one month, rotating between the three congregations. Each group averages about 3 months a year. For those who are interested in more extensive study, a Bible correspondence course if also offered for as long as they choose to continue.
